Investors · Chapter 05
Back the company reinventing a $300B industry.
A patented airless platform, active programs with OEMs and fleets, and a phased path into the world's largest mobility markets. This round scales what's already in motion.

Why this, why us
Others made the tire airless. We rebuilt what the air was doing — a load-bearing metal structure, not a foam fill or a plastic spoke.
That materials-science difference is the moat. The full technical and commercial case lives in the brief.
1.
Dependency: air. The point of failure
All.
Every wheel that carries a load
100yrs
The tire, essentially unchanged
Global transportation still runs on a single pressure-dependent architecture - and the flats, downtime, and waste that come with it. That dependency is exactly what makes it vulnerable.
EVs didn't build a better gas engine - they rethought the powertrain from first principles and redrew the auto industry. Airless does the same to the tire.
The market
A $300B core. Trillion-dollar frontiers.
Tires are an evergreen, recession-resistant industry serving every segment of transportation - and the two markets SMART is built for are growing into the trillions.

SMART's wedge · Micromobility & commercial fleets
We enter where a flat is most expensive - shared bikes, scooters, and high-utilization fleets - then expand vertical by vertical toward the largest markets on the map.
Global tire market ~$300B today, ~$400B by 2030 (Smithers, MarkNtel). Space economy $1.8T by 2035, up from $630B in 2023 (World Economic Forum & McKinsey).
Why now
Material, cost, and market have converged for the first time.
MATERIAL
Alloys at scale
High-purity shape memory alloys have only recently reached industrial availability.
COST
A viable curve
Processing advances bring cost within reach of real mobility applications.
MARKET
Electric & autonomous
A generational shift in vehicles is rewriting what a tire is expected to be.
After several years in Akron, Ohio, SMART relocated to Los Angeles, bringing hard-won materials and tire-industry expertise to build its team within the region's deep tech and aerospace ecosystem.
Traction
Systematically de-risked, from the lab to the road.

The inflection point
Working toward fleet deployment with a leading micromobility operator.
SMART is actively working with a leading shared-mobility operator running 100,000+ vehicles on real-world evaluation of durability, maintenance reduction, lifecycle performance, and fleet economics. A successful program opens a pathway to deployment across one of the largest fleets on Earth.

9 granted US patents
Owned and licensed, with protection running to 2043. Further applications pending.
Protected internationally
Granted patents in multiple jurisdictions, plus six registered designs in the EU and UK.
Exclusive and commercial NASA licenses
Exclusive and commercial licenses to NASA’s superelastic tire portfolio, including the structure behind METL.
$10M+ already spent
Federal R&D across more than twelve years, proving the material before commercialization began.
The business model
We don't sell the tire once. We own the life of it.
Because a SMART tire is retreadable, the structure stays in service across multiple tread lives - and SMART owns the retread products and process. Every renewal is recurring revenue on a tire we've already sold, not a one-time sale.
3–5×
lifetime revenue per tire
through an owned, recurring retread stream.

Austen Robotics, a division of SMART Tire
An additional revenue stream
Austen Robotics, our new division, applies the same shape memory alloy capability to robotic joints, flexures and wheels. Demand came to us first, from engineering teams already asking. It widens the customer base and adds component revenue alongside the core tire business, built on IP and know-how we already own. Goldman Sachs projects 6.5 million humanoid robots shipped a year by 2035, a $138B market, and every one runs on joints, flexures and wheels.

The product
It never goes flat. That's the least of it.
A shape-memory alloy tire that carries the load without air - the same architecture engineered for the Moon, tuned for the bike lane. It rides and feels like a conventional tire, without the flaws we've all learned to accept as normal.
More sustainableNo petroleum-based rubber to landfill.
Lasts longerA structural lifespan measured in years, not seasons.
LightweightEngineered light, with a smooth ride feel indistinguishable from a conventional tire.
RetreadableRe-skin the tread; the structure keeps going.
Award-winning designRecognized by TIME and CES - a striking look cyclists love, adaptable for every vertical.

Tires are just the beginning
A new system architecture, not a better tire.
SMART - Shape Memory Alloy Radial Technology - replaces air pressure with materials science: a Nitinol structure that carries load, absorbs shock, and returns energy without ever failing. The tire is the first product, but the platform is a new class of pressureless, load-bearing structures - reaching across mobility, aerospace, and infrastructure.

Chapter 05 · The opportunity
Help build the next great American tire company.
The tire went a century essentially unchanged - SMART is built for the next 100 years of mobility, from the bike lane to the launch pad. This round scales production capacity, advances our OEM and fleet programs, and expands commercial deployment. If you invest where materials science meets mobility, let's talk.
